After a mediocre season premiere last week, The Simpsons was back in top form Sunday night with an episode about Homer becoming an Opera singer – a storyline they haven’t done yet. A cameo by famed tenor Placido Domingo, or P. Dingo as he prefers, was put to good use and not contrived like [...]

On October 10 you can download Radiohead’s new album “In Rainbows” from this site. The price? Whatever you think it’s worth. That’s right. If you want to pay $20 for it, then you can pay that. If you want to pay a buck you can do that too. Or [...]

The Onion News Network has a panelist discussion show called “In the Know with Clifford Banes.” But the mysterious Clifford Banes has never actually been on his own show. Every week the guest host gives an excuse for Banes’ absence. This week his autobiography was due. It’s a shame Clifford Banes had to miss this week’s show because they raised an interesting question: With Allegations Of Fraud In The Election Of Umaru Yar’Adua In Nigeria, How Will Global Petroleum Markets React, Especially Considering Their Understandable Wariness Faced With The Ongoing Civil Strife And Crumbling Infrastructure In The Niger Delta? Only The Onion asks the tough questions.

David Letterman has still got it. Paris Hilton was on his show the other night and she wasn’t in the mood to talk about her stint in prison. Letterman on the other hand only wanted to talk about it.

Each network has owned Sunday - television’s most lucrative night - in recent years. It is the most watched night of television. It’s also the only night when prime-time starts an hour earlier than usual. This year there are no new shows on any of the major nets.
ABC starts things off [...]

The networks gave up trying to successfully program Saturday nights a long time ago. Now it’s mostly repeats.
ABC has college football, CBS and NBC have repeats, and Fox has Cops and America’s Most Wanted as they have since the dawn of time. This wasn’t worth the 90 seconds it took to write.

Nickelodeon plans to go dark for three hours this Saturday in an effort to get kids to go outside and play. That’s all well and good but what about the kids in wheelchairs, or the fat kids, or the grounded kids, or the kids in places where it’s raining? I can’t believe Viacom signed off on this. Maybe they’ll have popup ads for Pop-tarts during the blackness.

I can’t imagine watching television on a Friday night, especially with what the networks offer. Saturday night is the worst though.
ABC has an hour of Just for Laughs which offers up this synopsis: “A gorilla hanging from a tree surprises pedestrians.” Alright. Following that are two full hours of 20/20. I [...]

These people had the exact soda bottle refund scam that Kramer and Newman had on Seinfeld. I can’t believe this is real.Authorities said they arrested 10 people and seized more than $500,000 in cash after breaking up a smuggling ring that collected millions of beverage containers in other states and cashed them in for 10 cents apiece in Michigan.

How much of your state’s tax dollars have gone to fund the war in Iraq? The Center for American Progress has a state by state breakdown. What could that money be used for in your state? Education? Roads and bridges? Hurricane relief? Children’s health? Pudding wrestling?

ABC has the season premieres of Ugly Betty and Grey’s Anatomy followed by the series premiere of Big Shots, which doesn’t have much buzz. It’s strange that ABC would fill their best timeslot with one of their weakest shows.
CBS returns to its Thursday night lineup from two years ago: Survivor: China, which already [...]

Monday night’s second season premiere of Heroes was quite possibly the worst episode in the show’s short history. For starters there were too many characters and story lines. Not only did they have most of the story lines going on from last season but they introduced us to two new ones that weren’t [...]

ABC has the best Wednesday lineup by far, though the most talked about new show of the fall season, Pushing Daises, doesn’t debut until next Wednesday. Still, tonight does offer some shows worthy of a first look.
