CNN compares the SNL Couric/Palin interview with the real interview.
Newsweek: Fareed Zakaria: Palin Is Ready? Please.
“McCain says that he always puts country first. In this important case, that is simply not true.”
Salon: The Sarah Palin pity party
“Everyone seems to be oozing sympathy for the fumbling vice-presidential nominee. Please. Cry me a freaking river.”
Salon: McCain, the [...]

The saddest part is that they the real interview was just like this. They even used some of Palin’s real responses. Pathetically amusing.

This new ad reminds me of the Onion News Network report on Diebold leaking the results of the election early. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Even though John McCain has already won the debate he is putting the country first tonight and going through with it anyway. What a patriot!
The Commission on Presidential Debates has the official rules & debate format.
FINAL THOUGHTS: While many of the pundits on various channels were quick to anoint John McCain the winner, [...]

The other day I posted “Roger Ebert on Creationism,” where the film critic gave a Q & A. I took it as satire but it led others to wonder if Ebert was being serious or not. Well, satire was certainly his purpose.
But the purpose of this blog entry is not to discuss politics (a subject banned from the blog). Nor is it to discuss Creationism versus the theory of evolution (that way lurks an endless loop). It is to discuss the gradual decay of our sense of irony and instinct for satire, and our growing credulity.

David Letterman Reacts to John McCain Suspending Campaign
David Letterman was quite perturbed by the fact that John McCain lied to him when the Arizona senator canceled his appearance at the last minute. Keith Olbermann ended up filling in. What really set Letterman off was that instead of rushing back to Washington like he [...]

ABC has Ugly Betty and the two-hour premiere of Grey’s Anatomy. Life on Mars, based on the BBC show of the same name premieres in a few weeks. It is described as such: “A modern police detective wakes from a coma to find himself working as a cop in 1973, and must readjust [...]

In light of the financial crisis, John McCain just announced that he is suspending his presidential campaign. He has also asked Barack Obama to postpone Friday night’s debate.
It sounds to me like McCain is trying to stop the bleeding, not the economy’s but his own struggling campaign. It’s a risky ploy [...]

Wednesday night doesn’t look like much now but in a few weeks it will look a lot better.
ABC has yet another hour of Dancing with the Stars (that’s five hours total for those counting) followed by a two-hour David Blaine extravaganza. ABC’s real Wednesday night lineup of Pushing Daisies — last season’s best new [...]

A few moments ago I remarked to one of my roommates that our apartment was messy and could use a good tidying. Hell, I freak out when the trash bag falls into the trash can. I’m anal like that. It all starts with an overflowing trashcan and then the next thing you know it ends up like the following catastrophe.
Houston, Texas, is home to the world’s most disgusting apartment. Someone is not getting her security deposit back… Gross.

Roger Ebert answers all of your questions about creationism. My favorite:
Q. Why would God create such an absurd creature as a moose?
A. In charity, we must observe that the moose probably does not seem absurd to itself.

Bacon goes great with sweetness: pancakes and bacon, French toast and bacon, ice cream and bacon. So, why not cinnamon rolls and bacon? The perfect mix of sweetness and saltiness. Crispness and gooeyness. Deliciousness and baconness. Just look at those swirls of pure bacon delight.
