Sweepy at Sleepy’s

Sleepy’s on Boylston St. in Boston had quite a mess on its hands this afternoon. “The Mattress Professionals,” as they call themselves, had the sidewalk in front of the store showered with fliers advising potential patrons to think twice before shopping there.

According to Consumer Affairs:

Sleepy’s agreed to pay $750,000 to settle New Jersey charges that it misled consumers about its exchange policy, delivered defective merchandise and made misleading claims in its advertising.

Unfortunately for Sleepy’s, it rained. The fliers were practically tattooed to the pavement.

Curious pedestrians walking down Boylston couldn’t help and stop to read.

Sleepy’s management did not seem too thrilled with the eyesore of a mess.
Sleepy's management did not seem too thrilled.

But the real loser wasn’t Sleepy’s — although they did probably lose a lot of business — it was the poor guy who had to sweep up the papery mess. The whole time I was out there he was concentrating on just one area. He’ll probably still be Sleepy sweeping come quiting time. He’ll also probably leave the broom out once he heads home.
