Jewell of Denial
Remember Richard Jewell? He was the security guard who went from national hero to primary suspect after a pipe bomb exploded in Centennial Olympic Park during the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Jewell was never charged and was eventually cleared of suspicion but the national media had already tarnished his name in such a way that would make Nancy Grace seem reserved. Well, Richard Jewell died today.
It really is a shame that Jewell will forever be known as the Olympic Park bombing suspect rather than the hero he really was. I’m sure he would have loved to share a title with a meat-stuffed sandwich.
