I was so sure that Atonement would be overlooked for Best Picture in favor of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. The nominations are mostly appropriate, but I’m very disappointed that Ryan Gosling was not nominated for his incredible performance in Lars and the Real Girl. It’s still playing in Davis — you should see it. There is this moment when he’s dancing and he has his eyes squeezed shut and he sways back and forth and it’s so intense….
