The American Ruling Class

Bill Moyers interviewed Barbara Ehrenreich, author of Nickel and Dimed on August 3, 2007. Ehrenreich is featured in the film The American Ruling Class, a dramatic-documentary-musical about the growing class divide in America. Here is a musical excerpt from the film. The singing is pretty bad but I think that’s the point.

Sundance Channel:

Lewis Lapham, long-time editor of Harper’s magazine, presents a provocative examination of power and class in America’s presumed classless society. Guiding two actors playing recent Yale graduates, Lapham introduces the duo to privileged holders of power - James Baker III, Bill Bradley and Lawrence Summers - who respond to Lapham’s thesis on America’s ruling elite. An unusual hybrid of documentary and scripted drama/satire, complete with an occasional musical number. With Howard Zinn and Barbara Ehrenreich. John Kirby directs.
