The Real Kwik-E-Mart
Feeling some competition due to the overuse of the phrase “nine eleven,” a dozen 7-Eleven stores in major cities underwent a massive retro-fitting recently to make them look like Apu’s Kwit-E-Mart as part of an effort to promote The Simpsons Movie. As John Hammond would say, they really spared no expense. Slurpees became Squishees and everything from the exterior sign to the employee’s uniforms have been converted. But do they have the old guy stuck in the freezer? Do they! They even went as far as to hire Indian immigrants at low wages. Oh wait…
The detail is amazing. Look for little Simpsons quips everywhere.
