JibJab’s Star Spangled Banner

Since when did the “headlines” on cnn.com become merely a plethora of non-news bookmarks akin to something you’d expect to find on Digg? Yesterday I saw a link for JibJab’s Star Spangled Banner on CNN’s homepage; it was tucked away at the very bottom of “Latest News.” I guess CNN didn’t get enough hits from it because today they decided to bump it up a few notches, just below a story about five cheerleaders being killed in a “fiery” crash and just above another newsworthy piece on, you guessed it, Paris Hilton!

CNN should just introduce a rating system that allows people to rank “news” stories. They don’t need anything complex like Digg’s ranking system. A simpleton system similar to “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” would suffice. May I suggest “News It” or “Lose It.”
