This morning The Decider said that Congress “wasted time” when it came to appeasing the majority of Americans who want an end to the Iraq war. How dare they!
The House of Representatives has wasted valuable time on a constant stream of investigations and the Senate has wasted valuable time on an endless series of failed votes to pull our troops out of Iraq. And yet there’s important work to be done on behalf of the American people.
So, you’re Senator Larry Craig. You were caught soliciting sex in a men’s room by an undercover police officer and subsequently pleaded guilty. You announced your resignation from Congress but then changed your mind pending an overturn of your guilty plea. In the meantime you return to Congress. What’s your first order of business? Voting against a hate crimes bill.

Think Progress has the news that the Lieberman-Kyl Iran amendment, which threatens to “combat, contain and [stop]” Iran via “military instruments” has passed by a vote of 76-22.
I’m willing to bet money that the majority of people in this country don’t even know what habeas corpus is. So it probably doesn’t matter to them that senate republicans just stalled bipartisan legislation that would have restored detainee rights. Maybe more people should read The Constitution.
