Tuesday Politics: Economy Fail

Dennis Kucinich on the economic crisis:
“The double standard is stunning: their profits are their profits, but their losses are our losses.”

CNN: Ron Paul Commentary: Bailouts will lead to rough economic ride
The former GOP Presidential candidate and the only one who did not endorse John McCain seems to understand the economy better than McCain and Obama.

Real Clear Politics: McCain’s Queen of Hearts Intervention by George Will
Conservative George Will isn’t endorsing Barack Obama but he certainly isn’t endorsing John McCain either. Will compares McCain to the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland.

It is arguable that, because of his inexperience, Obama is not ready for the presidency. It is arguable that McCain, because of his boiling moralism and bottomless reservoir of certitudes, is not suited to the presidency. Unreadiness can be corrected, although perhaps at great cost, by experience. Can a dismaying temperament be fixed?”

NPR: Why Congress Objects To The Bailout Plan
The Bush Administration is trying to pull one last fast one over on the country ala the Iraq War. Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson is hellbent on delivering the least beneficial package to the American taxpayer. So far Congress is standing up to them.

AP: Palin bans reporters from meetings with leaders
The McCain campaign banned reporters from Sarah Palin’s meetings with world leaders. So CNN pulled its camera crew in response. It’s obvious that the McCain people only wanted the images, not the substance.

Media Matters: Limbaugh repeats baseless smear that Obama is misrepresenting his ethnicity
On his radio entertainment program yesterday, Rush Limbaugh claimed that Barack Obama is “not black” and that he is misrepresenting himself to the American people:

These polls on how one-third of blue-collar white Democrats won’t vote for Obama because he’s black, and — but he’s not black. Do you know he has not one shred of African-American blood? He doesn’t have any African — that’s why when they asked whether he was authentic, whether he’s down for the struggle. He’s Arab. You know, he’s from Africa. He’s from Arab parts of Africa. He’s not — his father was — he’s not African-American. The last thing that he is is African-American. I guess that’s splitting hairs, I don’t — it’s just all these little things, everything seems upside-down today in this country.

AP: Biden says ad mocking McCain is ‘terrible’
Joe Biden doesn’t necessarily agree with at least one ad Barack Obama approved and ran. Biden called the ad “terrible.” But later he changed his tune after admitting he had not seen the ad in question.

New York Times: McCain Aide’s Firm Was Paid by Freddie Mac
Yet another lie by the McCain campaign has been exposed: Rick Davis, John McCain’s campaign manger, was paid almost $2 million “as president of an advocacy group set up by the mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to defend them against stricter regulations.” Davis is still on the Freddie Mac payroll, too.
