J.J. Abrams Needs to get LOST

The Office is having a strong, creative third season. It doesn’t surprise me that notable Hollywood heavyweights have been stepping to get in on the action. Last week’s vampire-centric episode was directed by Buffy creator Joss Whedon. Tonight’s ep is helmed by LOST and Alias creator J.J. Abrams. Now I think J.J. stepping in is all well and good but personally I think he should be focusing all of his time and energy on ABC’s (now) struggling LOST.

Last season’s sporadic air pattern prompted ABC to break the third season into two parts, separated by a 3 friggin month break! Since returning from unnecessary said hiatus, LOST’s ratings have plunged to nearly half of what it used to be. The new time slot isn’t helping either. ABC moved the show out of the way of the Death Star in order to protect it but this has proven to be disastrous. It’s a shame too because the first two eps back have been the best of the entire third season. Also not helping the matter is the fact that ABC offers no sort of lead-in whatsoever. Since LOST debuted, ABC has tried to find complimenting companion shows. Each show was a serialized drama akin to LOST and each one failed miserably. ABC’s blunders have contributed to the ratings erosion and might just seal the fate of the most intriguing, albeit sometimes dawdling, show on network television.
