Scrabulous Shuttered

Scrabulous has been shut down until further notice. Hasbro sent a legal notice to Facebook asking them to block the game. I can’t bear the thought that I may never get to kick Sarah’s ass again.

According to the New York Times Bits Blog, the decision to block Scrabulous for U.S. and Canadian users (it’s still available to Facebook users outside North America) was made by the Scrabulous developers, not Facebook. At least that’s what Facebook says. Why would anyone believe a website?

The developers of Scrabulous — the defendants — have set up a contact form for those who would like to stay in the loop.

Save Scrabulous!

Mattel and Hasbro, the makers of the classic board game Scrabble, want to shutdown Scrabulous, which has surged in popularity ever since the launch of the Facebook application that I am hopelessly addicted to. A Facebook group has been launched as an official petition to save Scrabulous.
