24: Day Six Reboot
Now that the mundane terrorist plot is over, and both Fayed and Grindenko are dead, 24 can begin its mini-season. Last week’s episode was the best since the first four of the season. The ending was both chilling and encouraging. But is it too late to salvage this season? Probably. Even if these last episodes are awesome this season is still mostly a write-off. Let’s just hope they can make this home stretch worth watching.
Audrey is back (probably because the awful The Nine was canceled a while back) and under Cheng’s control. Jack, just coming off an old-fashioned fist and chain fight with Fayed, needs some love. And speaking of which, that whole fight was just awesome, right down to Jack’s Bruce Willis-esque line, “Say hello to your brother for me.” Doyle’s “Damn Jack,” reaction after was equally entertaining.
Does anyone else think the Vice President is taping his hot blonde assistant - the one who was willing to perjure herself in front of the Supreme Court? (I’d like to perjure her in front of the supreme court. If you know what I mean. And I think you all don’t.)
Regina King is still on the show as Sandra Palmer. Her character hasn’t had any sort of arc and has served no real purpose whatsoever. I had high hopes for her but she’s just a cranky, annoying Star Jones wannabe. And D.B. Woodside has been an awful President. Though is transformation into the Incredible Hulk last week was highly amusing to watch. I thought he was going to rip his suit off in a fit of rage in that scene where he screamed at the Ambassador.
So, what has been AWESOME about this sub par season:
-
- Jack biting a terrorist.
- Jack drop-kicking a terrorist off the subway.
- Jack taking out all of Fayed’s men and then kicking Fayed’s ass.
- Kiefer Sutherland’s performance in general.
- Peter MacNicol.
- Wayne Palmer collapsing while saying, “No one can no.”
- Powers Boothe and his hot blonde ASSistant.
- Alexander Siddig (reformed terrorist Hamri Al-Assad.)
- Bill Buchanan - he’s the longest CTU director in history. He also has the best lines on the show, “We don’t have time for your personal differences. We have to find out whose subverting our system!”
