24: Slacking Off
The doldrums have set in and it’s not pretty. This season of 24 has managed to flat line fast. It’s a shame really because last season was consistently strong. I had high hopes for this season.
This whole Morris subplot is probably the worst random side story in the show’s six year history. I really could care less. Can we just kill him off already? I would much rather Edgar on the phone with his invalid mother than Morris dropping a deuce in the bathroom. Speaking of which, was he really going to the bathroom? If he was he sure didn’t wipe. At least now he’s not going to smell like booze.
What is up with killing off Presidents? Obviously Wayne isn’t going to die but was trying to off him really necessary? Are we going to get, for the third time in six seasons, a Vice President assuming power because the president is incapacitated? Maybe Magoo-eyed Mike Novick will come back just to enact the 25th amendment once more.
And where is hell Sandra “I’m a lawyer!” Palmer? She and her Muslim boyfriend have pulled a James Heller; named for the 6-7 episode stint in season four when Secretary of Defense James Heller (William Devane) randomly disappeared. Last season is was Wayne Palmer who just up and dropped off the face of the Earth, this season it’s his cranky sister.
The only good thing so far is Jack’s storyline. I’m totally digging that despite the fact that his brother and father were just pulled out of thin air. I’m also glad Logan is back, made he can mix things up a bit.
I haven’t given up. Every season has its ups and downs. The problem now is that EVERYTHING is a rehash. Jack facing off against his father is basically the same story line from last season when Jack faced off against Henderson. They even recycled the exact line: “How could I have been so stupid?”
24 needs a lifeline. We’re running out of time!
