24: Soul Patch Down!

My dog man! In the last two weeks The Jack Bauer Power Hour has killed off three series regulars, including fan favorite Tony. Stupid, fat blundering Edgar bit it two weeks ago, and last week douche-bag “embarrassed” Lynn hemorrhaged right before our eyes. Last week also brought some more clever writing, with my personal favorite “So, we’re all going to die because you were embarrassed.” Good stuff.
Moving on….
I don’t talk about Jack much but I must say that this day in his life has become the most personal. He just lost his best friend and his daughter, who is banging C. Thomas Howell in Bat Country, officially hates him. But Jack does have Audrey… And what about Audrey? Kim Raver’s character really started to irk me last season but this season she has really become interesting. Now that we’ve lost three main characters, 24 can begin to focus on new faces: Audrey, Bill and Curtis. Bill is good stuff and Curtis is a genuine Black Bauer.
So, where do we go from here? To me, this season is at a fragile turning point. The terrorist plot, while the most redundant arc of the series, is sinister to the core this season. I hope these SHOCKING DEATHS! are more than just schlocky gimmicks. There needs to be more substance. The deaths of characters loathed and loved are only truly worth it if the end justifies the means.
Christopher Henderson is one hell of a villain. He tried to kill Jack. He did kill Tony. And he got away (typical). In my book, this character should be the most hated in the 24 history but damn he is so likable. Nina killed Terri Bauer, but Terri was annoying. Henderson killed Soul Patch, and was involved in Michelle and Palmer’s deaths. Speaking of Palmer, where is Wayne? I would love to see DB Woodside return, not only this season, but perhaps next season. The Palmer legacy should live on.
The last three hours have been stellar, but remember the three hours before that? Someone should have waved a skunk in front of those episodes. Where is day five going to take us?
